A while back, Mallory started posting photos of quick bouquets she’d assembled from various public places. “Prime pickings,” she calls them. Mallory is a master aesthete, and I soon began to visualizing handfuls as I walked through parks. Sure enough, I’ve found myself severing stems and doing my best to produce my own mini-bouquets. The process of choosing, arranging, and maintaining (read: pinching stems between my thumb & pointer finger), is highly calming. It’s only as time-consuming as I make it, but I sometimes enjoy a leisurely pace. “Prime pickings” are cute and fun, but the ritual itself is proving to be an excellent weapon against anxiety. Thanks Mal, ya precious babe.
